Car crashes into Costa Mesa party-supply store
News from Daily Pilot:

A car smashed into the front window of a Costa Mesa store in a 17th Street shopping center Friday morning, according to authorities.

A woman thought her car was in reverse when she stepped on the gas about 10:45 a.m. in a parking lot at 270 E. 17th St., police said. But the car was in drive, authorities said, and it lurched forward toward an invitation- and party-supply store called Where’s the Party?

The car didn’t make it all the way into the store, but it shattered a large window and knocked over a display, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Bryan Wadkins said.

No one was injured in the crash. A cost estimate of the damage wasn’t immediately available, police said.

Officers did not cite the driver, but she will have to undergo a reassessment at the Department of Motor Vehicles to determine whether she can keep her license, Wadkins said.

Helium tank: For party-sized tanks, punch out the tab on the top to show it is empty and place it in the trash. Never place in your recycling bin. RIRRC does not accept helium tanks that still contain gas. You must bring rented tanks back to store where you bought them.

Cardboard cake plate: If the cardboard piece underneath is covered in cake and frosting but the box itself is clean, toss the cardboard piece and recycle the box. Small plastic windows are no big deal for paper recyclers, however removing large ones prior to recycling is helpful.

Ice cream tubs: Reuse the plastic ones—like those from Newport Creamery—to send leftovers home with friends and family. These plastic ones are also accepte…………… continues on The Providence Journal
