Iowa couple enjoys bluesy wedding at festival

Last night, Marilyn Wells walked down the aisle toward a Roots ’N Blues ’N BBQ Festival stage to be wed to the sounds of a slow blues tune.

Marilyn, 55, wed Casey Cannon, 52, around 7:30 p.m. in front of friends, family and strangers on the Flat Branch Stage. They married during a 15-minute ceremony at the annual festival because of the “coinkidinks” they share.

“There’s too many to deny. It’s weird,” Marilyn said.

Simple similarities like names, numbers and life experiences enriched their fascination with each other, the couple explained Thursday, but their love for a large white oak tree in the middle of a field outside of Fairfield, Iowa, is more than chance, Casey said.

Marilyn said she has admired the tree her entire life. She spoke to friends and her children of its grandness but never did she imagine meeting a man with a similar love for the tree. The supers…………… continues on Columbia Daily Tribune
